Documentary short
In 1985, Barcelona the beautiful is still recovering from the Francoist period while preparing for the 1992 Summer Olympics.
Designers and architects are scrambling to redefine its urban profile and proposing a new design approach for a city already famous for its architecture. In the company of Carlos Ferrand, we explored the cities’ plazas and squares to document the facilities being created or refurbished to welcome visitors from around the world. We took many photographs of these new spaces. This urban face lift was an opportunity to put Barcelona back on the map. Since then, its popularity with tourists has never waned.

Edited from the images we collected; the documentary bears witness to this impressive Catalonian comeback. As a bonus, we animated a Miró figure for the finale of the film. This was one of the first animations made with a 3D software, then in its initial development phase at the NFB, and that would one day become Softimage.
